Empty Easel piece

I want to thank Nora from Empty Easel for publishing my piece on texture and the use of FLEXALL.  She sent a quick note asking about what can be added to FLEXALL.  I use stucco, but anything that can be added to the more expensive art mediums can be used.  It was great to see she added a shortcut to this blog.  Hope this will bring some more visitors to the site.

  1. Well Empty Easel brought me to your blog. I haven't done any textured paintings yet, but will keep your tip in mind thanks.
Like your "After the Horse" painting. I love old British bikes and have drooled over "the plumbing" of many an old trials and/or road bike! I might try painting my husband's Velocette after seeing this. Or a before and after of my old Royal Enfield - still awaiting renovation.

  2. In reply to Kathy re: "After the Horse". It was great fun. Just threw it up on the wall and used projector to get the basic measures. This was more of a "rat bike" - used and abused, but an old friend. This is the most memorable of all I have done.

  3. I was reading about Flexall and as I have started to work with texture I was happy to see there is a less expensive way. The problem is they don't sell it in Canada. Any ideas or suggestions on what would be a comparable product in Canada. OR...what is the main ingrediant I should look for. Thanks again for a great tip...

  4. FLEXALL is a crack/patch filler which can be used on concrete, wallboard or stuccco. It is not just the regular limestone spackle, but has silica and polymers added to it that make it dry flexible, so it doesnt crack. Ask your hardware store and they may be able to help. Be sure to get the MSDS sheet on whatever you get.
